Couples in Manhattan often come to therapy with the same core questions—but they tend to ask them in very New York–specific ways.
At City Lights Psychology, we work with couples across Flatiron, Union Square, NoMad, Midtown, Downtown Manhattan, and beyond. Below, we’ve answered the most common couples therapy FAQs exactly as Manhattan clients tend to ask them, with practical details about scheduling, location, cost, and confidentiality.
“Can we do couples therapy after work in Midtown?”
Yes. Many of our Manhattan couples schedule sessions after the workday, especially those working in Midtown or commuting into the city.
At City Lights Psychology:
Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes
Earliest appointments begin at 7:30am
Latest appointments begin at 8:30pm
Our Flatiron location makes it easier for partners coming from different directions—whether you’re leaving an office near Grand Central, Penn Station, or Midtown corridors—and want a session that fits into your evening without adding unnecessary commute stress.
“Is a lunch-hour couples therapy session realistic in Flatiron?”
For many couples, yes.
We regularly offer lunch-hour couples therapy sessions, which can work well for partners who work near Flatiron, Union Square, NoMad, or Midtown South.
Our office near Madison Square Park allows couples to:
Step out of work for a structured, focused session
Avoid long cross-town travel during the day
Return to work without feeling rushed
Lunch-hour sessions tend to work best when both partners have predictable schedules and can arrive on time.
“How do we make couples therapy work if one of us commutes from New Jersey?”
This is extremely common.
At City Lights Psychology, we work with many couples where one partner commutes from New Jersey and the other works or lives in Manhattan.
Common solutions include:
Evening sessions after the NJ partner arrives in the city
Early morning sessions before the workday begins
Telehealth couples therapy for NJ residents when in-person sessions aren’t practical
We offer in-person and telehealth couples therapy for residents of New York, New Jersey, and Florida, allowing couples to choose the format that best fits their routines.
“Where exactly is your office, and how do we get there?”
City Lights Psychology is located at:
1115 Broadway, Floor 12Flatiron District, Manhattan
Getting Here (Manhattan-Friendly Directions)
Near Madison Square Park
Short walk from 23rd Street
Nearest subway lines: N, Q, R, W, 4, 5, 6, F, M, and PATH
The building has elevator access. We recommend arriving 5 minutes early to allow time to check in and settle before your session.
Our Flatiron location is often convenient for couples coming from Midtown, Downtown, Union Square, and NoMad, especially when partners are traveling from different parts of the city.
“How much does couples therapy cost in Manhattan?”
At City Lights Psychology, couples therapy is private pay only.
Session fees range from $200–$400 per 60-minute session
We provide out-of-network superbills for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider
Fees are discussed transparently during your initial phone consultation so there are no surprises.
“What is your cancellation policy?”
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
Because couples therapy sessions reserve time for two partners and a clinician, late cancellations are subject to the full session fee.
“How does confidentiality work for couples therapy in New York?”
Confidentiality is a core part of couples therapy.
As New York–licensed mental health professionals, therapists at City Lights Psychology follow New York State confidentiality laws and professional ethical standards.
At the start of therapy, your therapist will review:
How confidentiality is handled in couples therapy
The limits of confidentiality, including mandatory reporting and safety-related exceptions
How information shared individually or jointly is managed
Our goal is to create a space that feels safe, clear, and trustworthy from the beginning.
“How do we get started with couples therapy at City Lights Psychology?”
